3 Insights from Julie

1. Give credit away

“As an individual who is working hard to create and bring new ideas and breakthrough processes to their company, it's so important to bring others along and share the credit, in fact, give it away. If you're really motivated by the idea and not politics, give it away all day long.”

2. Heads down vs heads up

“That mindset difference between an employee who comes in and they've got their head down and they're working hard on the system, and an entrepreneur whose heads up and they're always learning and looking for inspiration, and frankly just an opportunity, some good luck in any place, they can find it.”

3. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable

“Intrapreneurship is getting comfortable going outside of the trusted road behind and the trusted tools that got you where you are. This comes from studying other industries and making yourself uncomfortable once a year.”

About Our Guest

 Julie Walker

Partner, CEO Advisor, & Board Member | Inc. CEO Project

Prior to joining Inc. CEO Project and after nearly 25 years at Procter & Gamble where she led mature brands to new sources of growth, she moved into her first CEO role. In this role, she was again tasked with restoring growth to a stagnant 8-year old business. As a leader, she had to shift her time and attention from explaining the mission and strategies to redefining the operating culture. Since then she has dedicated her time to helping companies and CEOs unlock topline growth of mature but underperforming businesses in both product and service sectors.
